Here’s a corker for you!
In all my years of working out this whole business game - the game I think we’re all trying to conquer.
I’ve discovered there’s one trick that moves mountains more than anything else.
Move over, Penn and Teller; I’ll show you how it’s done.
If you want to know it, stick around, sailor, and I’ll shine a light on my secret to success.
Once you get it, it’ll change everything. It’s like learning a new trick on Excel; once you’ve got it, you can flaunt it.
It’s really a philosophy of your actions and the time spent, too.
It’s just one word that game-changes entrepreneurship and gives you the rocket fuel to make your time so much more valuable and, frankly, rewarding for you and your team - those people who rely on your actions to improve their lives, too.
Hang tight; it’s coming.
Any guesses yet?
You’re probably thinking…
Investing? No, sailor, it’s not that. Working hard, then? Or learning, generating profit, creating amazing cash flow, building a team, harnessing connections, where you’re born, or who your family is?
No, no, no, that’s not it. All that can help, for sure, but the word that adds rocket fuel to entrepreneurship is…
Leverage
Leverage, baby, leverage.
Once you add leverage to your life, you can’t lose at this game.
It’s not just property and money you can leverage. Everyone does that to a degree.
Real leverage is so much more.
Ultimately, leverage translates to this:
’Do the work once and get paid or rewarded forever.’
Leveraging time (our most precious commodity) is what turns a normal internet connection into full-on fibre.
I want to give you some examples of my daily practices so you can swipe and deploy some ideas. I think it’s fair to say I’m a prolific content creator nowadays.
These newsletters, videos, podcasts, and books are my most leveraged work.
My content allows me to connect with millions of people every single month. Just think of that power: you make a video, and over time, a million people see it. (if it’s good)
While most people do networking and breakfast meetings with a handful of individuals, I prefer to open myself up to millions of eyeballs.
See the difference?
If I go to a networking event, I want to speak at it to leverage my time by addressing 1,000 people on stage and filming it to redistribute to many eyeballs around the world.
If I am not leveraging my time, I’ve let myself down. It’s that simple.
Here are a few more ideas to tickle your taste buds:
Creating systems and processes for your business? That’s great leveraged work. Can they be franchised out?
Just ask McDonald’s if that worked for them.
Think about my girlfriend, Taylor Swift. She spends hours creating a particular song that catapults her popularity around the world.
Then she goes on tour with those songs - more leverage. Tay Tay films it all and turns it into a cinematic spectacular!
mean, that’s like a leverage superpower.
Leveraging time, brand, IP, and content again and again. What a woman she is.
If you are repeating tasks, you’re doing a disservice to your business.
Here are my top leveraged activities:
Creating content that gets used repeatedly.
Buying a business; doing that deal gives me rewards forever.
Purchasing property that offers capital growth and rent indefinitely.
Training and building great teams that deliver for our business.
Employing top talent and bringing them into our ecosystem.
Creating proprietary systems and software that can be used again and again.
Building a brand that can be leveraged.
Building a database.
In a nutshell, if you’re doing the same tasks on repeat, you’re an idiot.
If you haven’t got an assistant, you’re the assistant.
Decide on your hourly rate and what you can do for your business.
When I’m doing a deal or buying a business, I could be worth £100,000 an hour.
If I’m making content, say £20,000 an hour.
If anything is below my metaphorical hourly rate, you should outsource it.
(I appreciate I am not getting paid for this; it’s a philosophy I use)
No admin, no accounts, no day-to-day tasks - get others to do that.
These are not leveraged tasks; it’s that simple.
You’re the entrepreneur; you should be growing your business, not operating it.
I was sad to hear the passing of "Uncle Ben" last week.
No more Mr Rice Guy!
I'm allergic to rice too, that's right I'm "basmathmatic"
To your continued success,
James
